Barnmine Build Post 17
Summer update Preparing for Moar Power
Not too much going on with the barn. I submitted plans to the electric company for moar power. They have agreed to bring me a line from the rear of my property directly to the barn. The existing line to the home is underground and runs from an underground transformer. The rear of my property fronts right-of-way and there is a line on the other side of the street. Perfect.
They will replace the existing pole, upgrade the transformer, drop a pole on the back side of the property and connect to the building. There is no charge. Even better. I am waiting on full confirmation from construction services. They proposed upgrading to a 50kva transformer. I do not think that is going to cut when I am maxed out with 20 machines. They insist it will. If it blows that’s on them. On many occasions, in person, in the application, and phone I advised it be a continuous load, up to 70kw if fully built out. Cross that bridge later.
It has been hot. I have not had any issues overheating. On occasion a Whatsminer will start to complain about environmental temperature being too high. As mentioned previously, I had some heat recirculating in the loft. I know I need better hot/cold separation. I will work on that after my service is upgraded. For now I created a cheap foam frame to help direct the heat to the fan. This made a significant difference. Even when it is 95 F I am not getting any codes from the Whatsminers.
The plan after we get moar power is to increase the rack size in length, add 2 more fans on the gable end and increase the air intake at the roll-up door. That is about it for the building. I would like to wrap this up by August so I can put in the wall covering and start to build out the barn for barn stuff. I have so much junk in the garage. I don’t know where the hell anything is right now. This build a barn throw a few up there has morphed into something larger.
My son decided for some reason it would be a god idea to set something down near an M31 we have in the garage and stick his finger in the grill grate. I replaced a rusty fan guard with a CryptoClaoks print. The grill grates are pretty large. We though maybe we should not use it just in case someone does get close. Nah’ if you are that dumb to stick your finger near there then you deserve it. Well here we go..ha! Your going to be dumb you better be tough. I bet he will not do that again. This unit will be moved to the barn eventually.

Yikes... your son should be glad that's all that happened to his finger. I've seen videos that showed a similar fan, albeit grill-less, completely shred a whole carrot in no time flat.
